You Can Make A Difference

Do you know someone with a genetic disorder looking for information? You probably do. This is because:

  • 3-5 out of every 100 babies born has a birth defect
  • 20-30% of all infant deaths are due to genetic disorders
  • 1 in 9 children admitted to the hospital has a genetic disorder
  • 1 in 12 adults admitted to the hospital has a genetic disorder
  • 1 in 22 people in the United States has a genetic disorder

Over the past 5 years, AsktheGeneticist (SM) has answered over 4000 questions about genetics from every U.S. state and more than 160 countries.

To continue answering your questions about genetics, we need your help. As research money has been cut by the federal government and other agencies, we no longer have funding to continue operating the AsktheGeneticist (SM) website.

We’re counting on you. Without your support, this website will shut down. Online donations are fast, easy, and secure – on the next page, select the direction as “School of Medicine”. Then select the fund as “Ask the Geneticist”.
