Research Description:
Nutritional care is an essential component for management of genetic disorders to prevent brain damage & even death in some disorders. Development of a clinical nutrition program both for inpatients and outpatients with IEM in state of Georgia has been a high priority in my career. My research interests have focused on the area of nutrition & metabolism in children with rare inherited diseases. The goals of my nutrition research protocols have been to prevent neurological & adverse consequences in affected individuals & to develop nutritional recommendations which promote normal growth & development. My current research efforts include:

• Strategies to transition nutrition management from childhood to adulthood in patients with IEM.
• To evaluate the relationship between individual genotypes & nutrition interventions as they relate to disease outcomes.
