Mission Background The CMG is located in Emory Genetic Laboratories (EGL) and is ideally suited for high throughput genetic technologies in a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified environment. CLIA certification provides a unique opportunity; the ability to conduct research and develop genetic tests in a clinical setting. This allows delivery of beneficial translational medicines by moving cutting edge research discoveries into diagnostic tests and disease management tools sooner rather than later. The CMG is establishing a transparent genetic sample repository for many common and rare disorders. The CMG provides genetic consultation services (such as study design and bioinformatics) to aid investigators and collaborators by leveraging its close ties with Emory’s world class faculty of geneticists from the rest of the Department of Human Genetics.
